book excerpt
NOT BLUFFING
I won’t fold when dealt a lowly hand
But in bluffing alone - I cannot stand.
Don’t despair when handed a lonely
Deuce.
A likely pair may in turn produce.
Face cards that appeal may deceive
Though its fortunes may occur this eve.
Know when not to idolize wild cards
Not the less prominent to disregard.
When your stack of stakes mount high
Call on prudence to be your ally.
Don’t underestimate dealings with the same suit.
This invalidates vain pursuit.
With the Queen of hearts on side - may well be your guide.
Above all - let the King of hearts be your best bet.
And when Aces bestowed - recall God‘s Grace
But when the Jack of diamonds entice
Consider your fortunes - without price.
In playing life’s game of poker
Trash the Joker - he’s a renowned hoaxer.
As our enduring hope is on judgment Day
May we be known to fold hands together to pray?
