book excerpt
WALK NOT AFTER THY BELLY
WHAT WILL I EAT, has cost many their salvation. The first person who fell into this trap was Esau; later we see the Israelites walking and speaking in rebellion to Moses because of their bellies.
MOSES, JESUS, PAUL are men we saw in the bible that didn’t walk after their belly. When last did the Holy Spirit prompt you to fast? When we walk after the spirit, we shall not walk after the belly for the spirit wants to teach us long suffering which is a virtue that is necessary for us as Christians to possess. Long-suffering is the ability to have joy in the midst of trials, you too can break the grip of your stomach; and become disciplined, and walk in the spirit. Your profit is tied to it. (I Cor. 12:7).
APPLICATION: Great minds have denied food for insight. Isaac Newton saw the apple but provoked his mind beyond it. Light is shed for those that see beyond earthly things. Fasting says there is more beyond food and drink, it is called understanding (Prov. 4:7, Is 58:8-11). I see you break forth now.
With all thy getting, get understanding. Shed weight.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, cause me to see beyond earthly things that my appetite for the things of the earth will not drive me. Amen.
FILL IN: Phil 3:19 “Whose end is destruction, whose God is their…………………, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things”.
