book excerpt
When I feel pressured or driven: I stop, turn my thoughts to God, and know that God is here. If I listen, I can do all I have to do in peace.
•
When I feel apprehensive: I know that there is nothing to fear in any moment. God occupies every moment, and He is protecting His own.
•
When discouraged: I know that “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:13)
•
When I feel afraid: I know that God has not given me the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (1 Timothy 1:7)
•
When thoughts of aging come: I know that I am growing in wisdom, spiritual maturity and grace, and not deteriorating into decrepitude.
•
When thoughts of sickness come: I know that I reflect God and there is no sickness in God, there is only life, purity and vitality.
When I have thoughts of doubt: I know that I am God’s child; God is always present to help me.
•
When anger tempts: I remember that scripture tells me it is foolish to be angry, and anger makes me do foolish things. I am God’s child and can exercise patience. “Be not hasty to be angry: for anger rests in the bosom of fools.” (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
•
When I feel resentment: I know that resentment is hate, and I suffer if I hate. Instead of hating I can love.
•
When thoughts of inadequacy come in: I remember that I know who I walk with, and He is able to do all things.
•
When selfish rebellion is a problem: I stop to think that whenever my motives are focused on self I can expect failure or dissatisfaction.
