GOD'S PLAN FOR MAN
For I know that thought I think towards you, Saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end '.Jer. 29:11.
What was God's original plan for man? Could God have created people to suffer all the present troubles and suffering? Could there not have been a better way to live than people presently live? Of what good is sickness and disease and death? Who is profiting from them? Probably there are few that do but could those people not have had something else to do, as they are not exempted from these evils? These and many other questions bother people everywhere as people face the harsh wind of life.
God's plans and purpose are summarized in Jeremiah 29:11.'For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, thought of peace and not of evil to give you an expected end' KJV
God’s plan for man is good. God has a very beautiful plan for his creatures and purposed that man should enjoy the earth. That was the original plan from the beginning of creation and it has not changed. Death, suffering, disease, poverty, lack and all other evils as seen in the world today were not his plans for us.
“And God said let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man
In His own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed, to you it shall be for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for food and it was so.†Gen.1: 28-30.
God created man to live in an environment conducive for a good life. He was provided for; he was equipped to rule the earth and exercise himself in it. It is difficult now to imagine how man could have lived in such a state, but it must be borne in mind that the man God created was not as he is presently and his environment has degenerated greatly from what the Lord wanted it be.
Man was to enjoy God's companionship and friendship. In the New Testament, we can read how Jesus spent a good portion of his time healing and working miracles.
.'And in the evening, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and those who were possessed with demons. And all the city was gathered at the door. And he healed many that were sick of diverse diseases, and cast out many demons; and permitted not the demons to speak, because the know him†Mark1:32-34.KJV.
If sickness and disease were God's plan for man then Jesus would have been working ask his plans, but he was not in cross purpose with God. God has no pleasure in anything that is making you unhappy, frustrated, unfulfilled and sick. Jesus did not only heal, he gave his disciples authority to use his name to heal people.
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover†Mark16: 17. KJV.
It is clear from these scriptures that our well being is God's pleasure. However if God is not to be blamed for man's predicament then somebody is responsible for all the troubles that people are going through. Someone designed the present horror that man is subjected to. It is equally important to ask, what went wrong with God's original plan for man?
