“Well, Joe, you know about that goody-goody, that calls himself a health minister, who has been sending out that paper telling people there is another way to get healthy, without drugs and surgery.”

“I know who you meanthat Dan Farmington character.”

“That’s the one. He is starting to hurt my business. I don’t want him killed outright. I just want to get him out of the way and I want him totally disgraced. If it takes long enough for people to find him, perhaps he will save us a lot of trouble and die. Could you have a few of your boys make him disappear, and set him up so that if he survives he will be so disgraced he won’t want to show his face in public?”.......

She resisted, but Knife said, “Scream or struggle and I will slit your throat wide open.” One look at them in the glow of a street lamp, and she knew that they were not joking........

The men wrapped Dan in a blanket and tied him so he could not move. They carried him out to a van on the curb and threw him in......

They dropped Dan on the floor of the vault. He landed on the cold concrete floor with a thud. He heard the heavy steel door slam shut.
