    book excerpt

Faith is a strong and powerful spiritual attribute with extraordinary results. In God’s eyes this five letter and one syllable word make us worthy to be saved. Nothing is more pleasing to God than showing Him faith. Place your faith in Him and watch Christ do the impossible----remove sin. In the third chapter of Genesis, God shows the origin of faith (Gen. 3:22). This essential and important revelation opens our eyes and allows us to understand God’s definition of faith. God tells me faith is choosing His tree of life. I can’t go wrong when I follow His commands nor will He mislead you (Jeremiah 29:11-13). God never leaves us without a way out! The Holy Bible supplies us with God’s wisdom concerning faith. Contained within its pages is everything. The Old and New Testament are the blueprints to divine faith. Even though God changed faith’s direction (Christ) its origin has stayed intact. Real faith is conceding to our innermost self that Christ is the entrance into God’s kingdom. Jesus’ sacrificial death paved the way to an eternal faith. I have to accept Him or be left in spiritual darkness. Until I establish trust in the blood of Christ, it is impossible for me to experience salvation. John 14:6 tells me He is the “way, the truth, and the life.” When we believe we become part of the body of Christ----his church. This is open to anyone who believes in Him and humble themselves before God. I misunderstood the meaning of faith and often became confused. My thoughts didn’t comprehend its saving power because I used it in emergencies. I’ve learned many words define faith, but those words acceptable to God are—believing in Christ. When I become disappointed in God, my faith may weaken. I may think God didn’t come through for me in my time of distress. When I think this way, it is a set-up for trouble since approaching God with expectations is an act of self-will. This shows I lack humility and I’m assuming God will respond. We didn’t choose God, He chose us. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” The Lord accepts our faith and when I trust God, that trust finds favor with God and leads me to the road of eternity. You can have faith in God but be unsaved. Many people proclaim they believe the gospel, but put no action behind their words. The epistle of James warns me a faith without action is dead. James explains that a doer of God’s Word doesn’t forget the truth of sin (James 1:25). I have to be diligent in my faith by remembering Christ’s died for my sins. Can you tell the difference between a saving faith and dead faith? It’s imperative! You can’t be confused on this matter for your eternal destiny hangs on a living faith centered in God’s truth. Nothing in the world matches God’s Spirit and once you experience His presence then you have an everlasting faith. Faith alone is necessary but without growing more in its effectiveness then its full potential stays dormant. My primary focus of this book is discussing the apostle Peter’s message of adding to faith (2 Peter 1:5−7), also, the blessings God gives us when we apply them in our lives (2 Peter 1:8−11). I hope you will experience a faith full of God’s grace!
