Daddy wheat is warning the little seedlings about the things to stay away from, especially the birds. He tells the seedlings that birds like to eat seeds. Just as Daddy Wheat was starting to tell the seedlings how to grow.

The sky turned cloudy and gray, it began to get very, very windy. It also begins to rain. "Dad, something's wrong," said Oatie. Oatie is one of the little seedlings on the wheat stalk.

All of a sudden, a strong gust of wind blows Oatie off the Wheat stalk. "Help! "Help!" cries Oatie, but it's too late. Oatie's dad tries to tell hem about growing but the wind has blown Oatie too far away. He only heard the word "grow.

Oatie stayed awake all night. He's, cold, wet, scared and lonely. He's never been alone before! Early that morning Oatie starts his search for grow.
