Look Up: Redemption in this Generation Jim Zeigler
As we approach the consummation of the age, there seems to be a great interest in the timing of the end of the world. Nostradamus’ prophecies included a prediction that the world will end in 2016. Nostradamus (1503 to 1566) also predicts that strange planetary positions and other astronomical change

book excerpt
Wanting to know about the end of the world is nothing new. Each of the last twenty centuries has philosophers or prophets warning that the end is near. But they have all been wrong. The only correct answer can come from the creator of the Universe, Himself. The Earth does have an expiration date. It was not made to last forever. However, nothing man can make or do can destroy the earth. The disciples, just before His crucifixion, ask Jesus the same question.
“And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?†Matthew 24:3
I was teaching a Sunday School class in a small church in New Jersey when Saddam Hussein launched his invasion of Kuwait's tiny country. The following Sunday, I was asked by some of my students, “is this the beginning of Armageddon and the end of the world?†I soon discovered that these long-time Christians had never been taught anything concerning the prophetic nature of the Word of God. Although 27% of the Bible is predictive, very few pastors preach any sermons on the future or end times prophecy, other than the passing references to the Lord’s coming again. The next Sunday, the class began a six-month study of the books of Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel, and other prophetic passages, centering on Matthew chapter twenty-four, and I began a lifelong study of Bible prophecy. In Matthew twenty-four, the Lord himself taught his disciples what to look for as the time of His return approaches. Much of the basis of this writing is dealing with what Jesus told his disciples when they asked him to “tell us†in verse three.
Jesus told them that a generation would come when all the prophecies of His return would begin to be fulfilled in great rapidity. I believe I live in that generation and that the prophetic clock of the end times began to tick on May 14, 1948. The Lord’s return to Rapture His Church is the next major event to occur in the world and will be followed shortly by the Great Tribulation and the coming of our Lord in great Glory.
This book is the result of the twenty-five years of study of Jesus’ Olivet Discourse. It is not intended to be a comprehensive study of Bible prophecy. It is intended to be an easy read synopsis of what Jesus said to His disciples and also us, who believe Jesus was the Son of God.
I try to show prophecies from long ago and their fulfillments to convey the message that God knows the end from the beginning and that He gave the prophets knowledge of events centuries before they happened. Now, 2000 years after Christ, we can see the End Times prophecies of the Bible being fulfilled. I have included a lot of Scripture in this manuscript because God’s Word says what He means, and His Word will not return to Him void.
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.†Luke 21:28
