book excerpt
The children of Israel had to go through the wilderness of testing before they could receive the blessings of the Promised Land. We are given the “Wilderness†before the Promised Land, so we can see our hearts. What is in our hearts that we need to see? If we never have taken the challenge to see our hearts, we may never see the need to confess our sins and our desperate need to walk humbly before our God. The “Promised Land†for the believer is a more intimate relationship with God through Jesus. Many Christians “settle†for the wilderness because it is hard to press through toward the Promised Land. I am challenging you to take the hike.
