    book excerpt

VirtueHome Area Plans are areas in your home and your plans for how you will keep your areas during the week. Each day I suggest you spend 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening tidying up. Your area plan will be one particular room that you plan on “deep cleaning” that day. For example: Monday’s area plan could be the living room. Your plan could be to dust, vacuum, organize, and clean windows (yes the dreaded windows). Here are some tips for your areas: Kitchen: 1.Sink. Keep your sink clean and shiny. A quick way to do this is to empty all dishes into the dishwasher and put some soap in the sink. Scrub it with a rag and rinse. Then spray glass cleaner and wipe. Now the sink looks shiny and new! 2.Countertops. Clean off all clutter form the countertops. Put things away so they do not clutter your countertop. Clean with your preferred cleaner and place countertop items back where they belong. Tip: Wipe down the walls behind countertops before replacing your items. 3.Cabinets. Cabinets can become very disorganized, which takes away time while you are cooking. Take time to organize, or reorganize your cabinets. 4.Wipe down cabinets. Cabinets can get dirty from hands, food, dishes and cooking. Use your preferred cleaner and wipe down the fronts of your cabinets. 5.Sweep and Mop. While you will probably do this on a daily basis, once a week do a deep cleaning of your floors. You don’t have to get down on your hands and knees and scrub, just be sure to clean the floors a little deeper than you normally would.
