At the end of each chapter in this book, I share a personal testimony from parts of my life as a Christian. These self-reflections or personal testimonies are the heart of this book and what I feel will let others know that the victory of living true Christian lives is found only through Christ alone. The following reflection and prayer is found at the end of Chapter 7, titled “Preparation for the Battle”. REFLECTIONS When I was 24 years old, I married a man whom I thought I loved. We had lived together on and off for about three or four years prior to marriage. It’s funny how you know you really don’t like someone, but you feel you love them anyway. I learned later in life that love really is a choice. I had decided to love that person, despite all else; even going to God to ask for guidance and direction. Through our struggles as husband and wife, believers of Jesus Christ, a war was waged against us. It began in our minds and hearts and permeated our lifestyle. My life with this man began to spiral downhill at a fast pace. The battle in my mind took total control of my feelings and thoughts to the point of birthing a hate within me that scared me almost to death. I failed to seek God in prayer. I failed to put the Word of God on to the fullest. In the end, the battle was lost, the marriage was lost. I was lost. But God never gave up on me. I had given up on Him. I yielded to the flesh by trying to do everything my way. The years that followed that failed marriage were a struggle for me. My mind was not my own…My Father had mercy on me and shined His grace on me… From that point on I began to slowly creep back to the hills from where my help comes from. Today I’m still climbing that hill, but with the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving my soul! Excerpt from the Special Prayer for the Spiritual Battle Oh Great and Mighty God, You are a God of power and strength. You are our fortress, our rock, our shield and buckler. Your Word is our strength Lord. We claim victory in our lives as we study, meditate, and pray your Words. We speak life through your Words. We bind everything that is not of you by your Word. We tell the devil and his army to flee by your Word on the authority given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Though we struggle with the battles we are faced with as Christians, we know that through your armor of love, shed by your precious blood, the victory has already been won. All blessings and honor and glory belong to You. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
