    Rapture: Fact or Fable?
    CALVIN HECHT
Controversial? Yes, to many readers "Rapture: Fact or Fable?" will be controversial because this nonfiction work explores the popular Christian belief that Christians will be "rescued" before a coming time of worldwide tribulation. Fact or fable? Hold that judgment. Read this book first.

    book excerpt

Warning: What you believe about the rapture may change after you read this eBook! I believe that the Bible can be read by the average believer with an average education and average intelligence, and, through prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the truth can be revealed without resorting to the often convoluted interpretations or fanciful fiction of others, or wishful thinking that is self-deceptive, or attempts to fit the Scriptures to preconceived ideas that are outside the context of the Scriptures being studied. In fact, some have criticized my effort by citing a dozen or more extra-biblical sources in an apparent effort to obfuscate and dispute my position — they, all the while, playing the contrarian; however, I do concede that the subject of a pre-tribulation rapture is controversial, but that is all I will concede. Having said that, however, if you need extra-biblical sources to interpret every jot and tittle of the Scriptures for you, then the plain, questioning scenarios that this book offers along with more than 80 endnotes for further study is not for you. On the other hand, if you value independent thinking, have a degree of curiosity, have a smidgen of critical-thinking skills, and if you love the simple words of Scripture — and the words of Jesus, in particular — you may find this book interesting. So, if this eBook piques your interest in the subject of the rapture and the tribulation, no matter your current position on the subject, and if you choose to investigate further, I will have been successful in this undertaking. ~~~
